Video: Three opposition groups launch "People`s Monitoring for Honest Elections" campaign

The Belarusian Party of the Greens, Belarusian Popular Front and Movement for Freedom have launched a "People's Monitoring for Honest Elections" campaign.
The key objective is to engage as many people as possible in monitoring the parliamentary campaign, Ihar Lyalkow, deputy chair of the Belarusian Popular Front, said at a news conference held in Minsk on Monday.
The volunteers who will join the campaign will work as observers as part of local election commissions and independently, on their own, he said.
“There are no genuine elections in Belarus, but only a simulation of them,” said Mr. Lyalkow. “But unfortunately, despite the opposition’s effort to highlight the issue, more than 50 percent of all citizens believe, according to public opinion surveys, that there are elections and that their vote matters.”
Elections in Belarus are a “political campaign in which the authorities pursue their ends and the opposition theirs,” he said.
But the "People's Monitoring for Honest Elections" campaign is needed to show the voters that elections in Belarus are always rigged, he said.
