By Maryna Nosava, BelaPAN
Minsk, 2 April. Belarusian research projects receive European Union funding in the framework of programs run by the 28-nation bloc, Alyaksandr Shumilin, head of the State Committee for Science and Technologies, told reporters in Minsk on April 2.
Sixty-four projects received a total of more than €5 million in funding as part of the EU's Seventh Framework Program, he said.
Belarusian State University's Institute for Nuclear Problems is participating in the Graphene Flagship, making Belarus the only non-EU state involved in the EU's €1 billion research initiative, according to Mr. Shumilin.
The official also emphasized the importance of exchange programs allowing Belarusian scientists to work or take training at EU research centers.
Eight Belarusian projects have won funding totaling €1.35 million in the framework of the EU's research and innovation program called Horizon 2020.
