A crowd estimated at up to 1,000 people demonstrated in Babruysk, Belarus’ seventh largest city with a population of almost 220,000, on Sunday, protesting Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s Decree No. 3 that imposed a so-called parasite tax on non-working people.
Protesters, who gathered in downtown Victory Square, displayed white-red-white flags and signs saying, “We are not slaves!” “No to the decree, yes to jobs!” and chanting, “Long live Belarus!”
