Video: French ambassador, chefs meet with reporters ahead of French cuisine festival

French Ambassador Didier Canesse and several chefs met with reporters in Minsk on Tuesday ahead of the start of a global French cuisine festival.
"Festival participants, and there will be more than 2,000 of them this year, are to cook a dinner consisting of French haute cuisine dishes. We are very happy that 11 Belarusian restaurants will take part in the cooking festival called the Taste of France this year. That shows a growing interest in the festival and French cuisine," said Mr. Canesse.
"We, cooks, want to use Belarusian food while cooking French dishes," said chef Marc Ulrich. "Using certain ingredients in a certain season is very important to us. For instance, there is excellent pork in Belarus. But pork is tastiest in fall, while vegetables are tastiest in summer, namely in August."
