Video blogger Maksim Filipovich was released from a detention center in Homyel on April 5 after he spent a total of 25 days in jail.
Mr. Filipovich was released five hours earlier than expected for the apparent purpose of thwarting family members from meeting him at the jail gate.
He was allowed to go home after he was driven from the detention center to a police station.
He went home, got a bicycle and cycled back to the detention center because he knew that his family and friends were waiting for him near the jail.
Mr. Filipovich said that he would continue video blogging and reporting live from various events.
Mr. Filipovich had been in jail since March 13. He served three consecutive jail sentences.
In particular, he served a 13-day jail sentence for participating in an unauthorized protest against a so-called parasite tax in his home city of Homyel, a five-day jail sentence in connection with a demonstration in Brest and a seven-day sentence in connection with a demonstration in Maladzyechna, Minsk region.
Mr. Filipovich is expected to soon stand trial for participating in an unauthorized demonstration in Pinsk, Brest region.
