Video: Museum buys rare coins with public donations

The National History Museum of Belarus has bought ancient coins with the help of a crowdfunding campaign.
The coins, which were in circulation during the rules of Grand Dukes Alherd, Vitawt and Yahayla in the Grand Duchy of Litva, were unveiled on October 11.
The museum bought the coins thanks to its fundraising campaign on the crowdfunding platform The lion's share of the money came in a single donation from an anonymous person.
"We had no money to buy these coins, so we decided to raise funds through," said Raman Krytsuk, a scholar at the museum. "That not only brought us donations, we were also presented with some 10 coins. While we used to have only three coins dating back to the early period of the Grand Duchy of Litva, we now have more than 20. They date back to the time when the monetary system of the Grand Duchy of Litva was being established. These coins are virtually absent from Belarusian museums."
