In pictures: Early voting begins in Belarus’ local elections

Polling stations opened in Belarus on Tuesday morning for early voting in elections for local soviets (councils) of deputies.
The stations will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a break in the afternoon during the five-day early voting period. The main voting day in the elections is February 18.
Voters are required to produce passports or other official identity documents containing a photograph to vote early. They are not required to explain why they will not be able to cast their ballots on the main voting day.
Voters in 18,111 electoral districts are to elect a total of 1,309 soviets, including six regional soviets, the Minsk City Soviet, 118 district soviets, 24 city soviets, eight soviets in urban-type villages and 1,152 village soviets.
